I mentioned that I was going to a Halloween party at Meg & Tim's and my last minute costume issue (I did mention the party, right? I mean, I think I am officially too old for Trick or Treating.)
I went to my sister's baby shower in CT and then scrambled going store to store trying to find stuff for my costume. My original plan was to be Baby/Frances from Dirty Dancing and wear a "Hello My Name Is" sticker and write in "Baby" with a right angle with a slash through it adding "Don't even THINK about it." By about 6:00, I finally had the white Keds, and a pair of cheap jeans ($6 on clearance from Marshalls, thankyouverymuch) to cut up and roll. It was really weird; the Keds and rolled jeans shorts were a look I rocked for a few years in high school. I felt transported back in time, trying to get the jeans cut and rolled up so that they were the exact same cuff width and were perfectly even. Thank God I don't have to deal with THAT anymore, huh?
I was also going to pick up a watermelon from the grocery store; a nod to the "I carried a Watermelon" line. But alas, they are not in season anymore.
To the surprise of exactly no one, my plans changed somewhere around 7:00 p.m. as I was getting ready at my sister's house in CT. Her husband couldn't figure out for the life of him who I was supposed to be (true, the outfit was a little nondescript: white Keds, jean shorts, white top). Em offhandedly mentioned that I kinda had the Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island vibe going, and reminded me that I even had a red-checked shirt in my wardrobe to boot.
And that, my dear friends, is the birth of my new costume plan. Now all I had to do was ask Mike to bring it the shirt in question to the party (with a follow-up request to iron it. heh.).
So here are a few favorites from the night.
Tim/Mr. Incredible, Best Costume winner 2005, Best Use of a Sock nominee 2005.
(once again bringing his A-game to the Halloween party)
Suz/Tara Reid, Best Embracing the Character 2005, Best Use of a Sock winner 2005.
(By the way, those are my soccer socks in there. Yeah, I've never felt closer to you, Suz.)
Jer/Cliff from Singles, Best Against Type 2005.
(I said to Jess, "mind you, not that I'm checking out-checking out your husband but, ...damn. Yeah, why is it I always go for the 'bad boys'?")
Meg/Raggedy Ann, Best Rocking the Day Glow Red Hair 2005.
(After Raggedy Andy made off with their royalty checks, Ann was left no choice but to pimp herself out. That is some True Hollywood Story episode in the making if I ever saw one.)
Jess/Over Accessorized Paris Wannabe, Best Use of Sweats in a Dramatic Performance 2005.
(must say, it was really great of her to stay awake)
The Ladies: Suz, Me, Meg, Jess.
(Suz has apparently embraced Method Acting for this night.)
Me & Mike. People thought I was Daisy Duke. Eh, I can live with that. She hot.
The rest are on Flickr. Do yourself a favor and check them out. They won't disappoint, I promise you that.
