Once More with Feeling.: The FaceSpace Crutch

Once upon a time, this place was my hangout, my crib. I've been using the FaceSpace for writing and now, as things are starting to shift to a less sleep-deprived state, I feel like there are moments when I had more Space and miss this feeling sharing with people who weren't forced to look at me because I'm in the FB feed.

In this last year and a half-ish alone - I feel like we as a family, and me personally did about, (counts- 1, 2, 3 ....)ALL THE CHANGES.

If you look to what I thought 2012 would bring - it bascially lived up to the sought after hype in terms of expectations and our goals.

Quick rundown of 2012:

Jan-Feb: live the easy lifestyle of 1 mellow, sweet, nap-taking kid and a sweet 25 minute commute. Life is, one could say, pretty easy.

March: Start looking at new places to live. No rush, but current house not the idea layout (for us) for adding to our crew. We are trying for about 6 months, but not pregnant yet. Hoping for a shore town.

Mid-March: find out I'm pregnant. (YAY!). Put house on the market.

April- house searching, house searching.

May-June: shit storm of morning sickness and an added kick of Nile Virus (5 lbs lost)

June: Find Dream Housein coastal town. Only 2 bedrooms upstairs, house getting multiple offers on DAY ONE of showing, don't know what I'm having, can't get Mike there (work day) in time to see it, he takes my word it's "The One" and I bid without him ever having stepped foot inside it. Hope 2nd one is a girl so they can share a room forever and ever.

Add a letter with offer, mention I'm expecting again (hadn't even told my dad yet) and see ourselves raising our family there.

Offer accepted. We are now owners of two houses. EXCITING!

July: Get offer on house, offer falls apart after inspection. Many swear words (in the comfort of my own home, mainly) for bullshit inspection report.

July: other low ball offers...Now we are starting to sweat.

August 7: we are officially the owners of the new place while still owning old place. DOUBLE MORTGAGES IS GOOD TIMEZ. It's a DAMN PARTY UP IN HERZ.

August 16: Move in.

August 17th (night): find myself in ER for random puking and tightening of abdomen. Everything check out fine.

Auguest 18th: Shoot first wedding for money. Have bathroom issue of the OTHER end and now thinking great - am missing shots because I'm stuck on the toilet. And water spills on my RENTED CAMERA and LENS (starts to lock up at random parts) but I brought my back up camera and all is fine. Get rented gear to work again (THANK GOD). Images look great (I think) and glad to have first wedding down and under my belt.

Septemeber: Get to realize how awesome our hood is for Carolyn. Throw our first pool party over Labor Day weekend - just 2 weeks after moving in. Clearly, we are insane, but am really happy with life.

October-November: Wow, the new commute sucks ass.

Dec 3rd: Meet little Miss Margaret Irene.

2013:

January 31: Turn 40 (8 weeks post partum). Go out for Chinse food with my friends and family. Food, Cake and cocktails. Pray Maggie isn't drunk around 2 a.m. when I nurse her.

February- DEAR GOD, WE CLOSE ON OLD HOUSE. Find a wet dollar in the parking lot and take it seeing as we need any one we can get.

This is how I feels:

March: Start to find creative ways to punish Mags for her insubordination. I choose dressing her up (kills time).

March15: back to work.

April: work

May: Work

June: Give my notice, without another job to go to as I...

Try to make a real go of being a professional photographer. For realz.

July 1: No longer getting paid an insurance company. A first in 20 years. Gulp.

August: First family vacation to the Cape with my entire family (4 siblings, 8 young children between us). It's great, and everyone still speaking to each other and I only call my brother a dick once in 7 days. Okay, twice - but it was in the same converastion. THIS IS GOOD.
